Last week, you may remember that Rob Cooper had some rather mean things to say about the PSP. He called Sony’s handheld "overpriced" and "too technical," and generally went on and on about how the PSP would never find the success of the Nintendo DS.
Of course, statements like these are a PR department’s nightmare, and an unnamed Ubsioft rep has sent out a release attempting to "reaffirm that it strongly supports the PSP, which holds a unique place in the market, addressing dedicated gamers and offering unprecedented power in a portable console." The rep went on to state that the company fully supports the PSP, and they are planning to release 12 PSP games in the current fiscal year.
So from the sounds of things, Cooper went off-script for a while, thus sending the damage control teams scrambling to say nice things before Sony did anything rash that might hurt the company. We expect to see Rob Cooper at E3 this year giving a keynote on the joys of all Sony products while getting a PSP tattooed onto his chest.
